I can best describe myself as both a scholar and a communicator, who considers International History and Politics to be his vocation. After several years dedicated mainly to teaching and working as a journalist, and a period in the Italian Civil Service and Navy, I decided to embark on a direct-admission PhD program at the Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies (HEI). This was more than just an original idea; it meant finding a place for myself in an environment where most doctoral students were much younger and had little, or no experience outside academia. This doctoral journey has reinforced my feeling that I have much to contribute to the university community, especially an American university, where my knowledge of US culture, politics, history and academic system is effectively employed. A resident of Geneva since 2002, I enjoy spending my free time traveling and attending cultural events.
